Turbulence Correction

Images from real-world environments are often distorted by complex interactions of light rays with intervening medium. Correcting such atmosphere induced turbulence is non-trivial. Results will randomly varying PSF across the image, blurring, and warping of imagery. Such effects limit surveillance distance for IR imaging systems


Uurmi developed a new approach for rectifying CCD and IR imagery distorted due to atmospheric turbulence assuming anisoplanatic conditions.

  • First step eliminate the geometric distortion prevalent due to thermal effects
  • Second step on rectifying the ambient noise present in the data
  • Third step on correcting the blur present in the data
